Preschool Mental Health
Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is an evidence-based treatment for young children with behavioral problems. PCIT is conducted through "coaching" sessions during which you and your child are in a playroom while the therapist is in an observation room watching you interact with your child through a one-way mirror and/or live video feed. You wear a "bug-in-the-ear" device through which the therapist provides in-the-moment coaching on skills you are learning to manage your child's behavior.
Preschool Evaluations
The evaluation of preschoolers differs from that of older students in that all tests have distinct limitations when applied to young children. During our preschool assessment, we rely heavily on parent reports of the child’s behavior across settings, observational data, and the results of the assessment. We also provide more time and resources to ensure preschool students feel comfortable with us before we begin any assessment in order to increase the accuracy of our results. Evaluation findings are documented in a detailed report and discussed with family members in a follow-up consultation.
Contract School District Psychological Services
Good Minds is available to provide direct and indirect services to school districts who may require culturally competent psychoeducational services. Direct services (e.g., psychoeducational evaluations, observations, etc.) are provided onsite and indirect services (e.g., IEP meetings, consultation, etc.) are provided remotely by our staff. Parent Consultation
Intended for families who need to discuss concerns about their child's progress, review previously completed testing or evaluations, Individualized Education Plans (IEP), or any other related paperwork. The consultation aims to provide guidance, recommendations, and offer insights into whether an evaluation or further services may be appropriate at that time.
